The tech is really cool and sounds a little 'DX7ish' at times. However, I'm really struggling to see a use case other than it being a novelty. Super cool though.

It looks expensive.

It's a funny concept but a set of 20+ digital resonators fed with a contact microphone and or samples, can do definitely better than this (tuning, poliphony, exciters). IMHO It looks like a perfect influencers' toy instrument. It's beautifully designed, but it's essentially nonsense if you know the power of modal synthesis and resonators with sampling and mics.

Finally a brand that doesn’t copy other products but rather tries to experiment

I have a kalimba with a piezo pick up, so I can add fx to it. This one sounds exactly the same

STOP. youtube compression of sound is crap and what sort of speakers are you listening on as well ? Makes a big difference. GO TO THE STORE and listen youtube audio is rubbish. I found this out when I bought my Hydrasynth. UA-cam videos even on my studio monitors at home idid not sound as good as directly out in the store. it was a marked difference in real life.

Seems like they are super close to making a midi controlled electro-mechanical piano. Throw 72 of those into a unit and have midi in!

I love this, it's cute as heck.

Call me crazy but why don't you guys make this but also just make like a 49 key electric piano with this same setup, just less doodads attached to the forks? There is no affordable (sub $5000) electric piano on the market that basically doesn't weigh 100 lbs. If you made a modern ones with all the right parts but like a plastic chassis for weight, thing would sell like hotcakes.

Excellent comparison. They're so close, and the One obviously can go so much further despite the high end limitation. One additional thing to note regarding the loss of high end: the filter trick others have mentioned helps a lot, but if you dig into the menu, you'll find that it comes with a noise reduction filter on by default. You can scale the filter back or turn it off altogether, and that brings pretty much all of that high end back. The issue is, with all of the complex analog circuitry in the One, there is high end noise/hiss that stacks up, and I suspec that's why the noise reduction is turned on by default. It's up to the user to decide whether or not that's a deal breaker. I don't mind it. Saves you from having to add fake tape hiss from a plugin anyway!

Moog Minimoog and Modular and Arp 2600 are first synths that I was exploring and learning (well Arturia emulations). Because of those synths I know how to programm synths. Anyway...legend sounds quite nice! ...overdrive is still not convincing me entirely but doesn't sound bad at all.

Such a COOL device. I love how innovative Korg is being with this thing!

Really hoped to love this, but so far the sound of it seems very mundane and limited to me.

I heard it can do multi-sampling.I want to know details…. such as: can it do multiple velocity-switched layers? If so, how many layers? can you map multi-samples across ranges of notes? Will it automate multi sampling instruments, similar to Sample Robot and 1010music’s Tangerine? What is the onboard storage capacity for multi-sampled instruments? I hope it has the auto-multi-sampling capabilities found in 1010music’s Tangerine, allowing me easily sample, my hardware and software based instruments. IMHO, this would make 3rd Wave unbeatable, especially given its stellar performance in all other areas and its full support for MPE.

Not to sound greedy on the heels of a new feature announcement, but one thing that could more or less make this the definitive synth of this nature would be to be able to do what Ensoniq did with transwaves, i.e. build wavetables of waves that are more than a single cycle long. I'll grant there may not be a HUGE use case for it (no one has really done it since, to my knowledge), but the bones are there to make it happen in this synth. You could modernize the Fizmo here.
